How to make egg freezing is recommended for those who receive cancer treatment!

Especially recently, with the increasing number of women having this child thanks to this method, egg freezing is recommended to people who will get cancer treatment known as ‘oocyte freezing’. After the treatment is finished, people whose eggs are frozen can easily have children with the application of the treatment. IVF Center Responsible Assoc. Dr. Murat Özekinci talked about the curiosities about egg freezing.

In healthy women, egg reserve begins to decrease significantly after mid-30s. The reason for this is that women are born with a certain egg reserve and this reserve decreases gradually with age. The quality of the egg cell, which is thrown in each menstrual cycle, decreases with increasing age.

In some women with reduced egg reserves, the reproductive age may take less than expected. In this sense, women who are 35 years old and have no marriage plan within 5 years are at risk. If egg freezing has not been done before, the chance of conception becomes less with these methods after the age of 40. A 40-42 year old woman has a 7-15% probability of having a baby by the IVF method, and their chances of spontaneous pregnancy are much lower than these rates.

It is difficult to get pregnant in the last 10 years close to menopause in all healthy women who have no risk factors or medical obligations. The method of conceiving women ‘s eggs at a younger age and then using these eggs is called social or elective ice cream. The person wants to maintain his reproductive potential at his own will. The majority of all egg freezing cycles abroad consist of women in this group.

In fact, it is the most important parameter in showing the egg reserve and quality and the potential to conceive for a woman of age. Advances in egg freezing and thawing technology in the last 15 years have enabled cell loss and damage to be reduced to a very low extent after the defrosting operations and the increase of pregnancies and births that occur in this way.

Genetic conditions affect egg reserve. Women who have menopause before the age of 40 in their mother, sisters or cousins may be at risk. People with early menopause in the family history should be evaluated by obstetricians and gynecologists experienced in reproduction. In such a risk detection, it should be suggested that the ovaries should be collected and frozen under ultrasound after their development by stimulating. Later, even if these people enter menopause, it is possible for them to become pregnant using their eggs that they have frozen in the past.

Treatment methods such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy used for cancer treatment may damage the ovarian tissue in women, leading to decreased egg reserve and loss of fertility. In such cases, egg cells or tissue can be frozen before treatment and stored in IVF centers for later use.

In addition, it is possible to freeze and store the eggs in detecting that the hormone values in the blood or the ultrasound reserve decreases with ultrasound. Embryo can be obtained by combining these previously frozen eggs with their spouse’s sperm after marriage. With the transfer of these embryos, it is possible for the person to become pregnant and give birth.
